Welcome to my digital portfolio for the 2015-16 school year. This year for Humanities 12 I'm rolling out a new project and streamlining our study of economics. The new focus merits a new name for our study of these two topics: The Market and the Polis. I'm also sharpening my focus on writing instruction and by the end of the year want my students to write better than they ever thought possible. We are adding an action component to senior project this year, which has me incredibly excited to see what our students will come up with.
My first semester elective this year will be Creative Writing. I did a professional development training in digital storytelling and will be integrating this new skill into this and all my courses this year. Second semester the plan is to teach Storytelling for Stage and Screen and hopefully feature a student showcase of writing and performance.
For X-Block, I'm excited to continue our partnership with the Twin Buttes Garden, getting our students hands dirty. I also dream of making salsa and casino rueda, a must do X-Block when snow is on the ground. For exploratory this fall, I'll be facilitating The Justice League, for Animas superheroes interested in learning about and addressing issues of fairness at our school, in Durango, across the nation, and around the world.
My advisees are now entering 10th grade and are noticeably taller since I last saw them and I look forward to a year of tremendous growth for our group as a whole. Finally, I'll be facilitating the Student Council, helping give students more voice in the affairs of their school.
Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to find more about my courses or have a question about your son or daughter's work.
