Goal for the day: To finish our draft poems
I started today with a handout for people to check in on how they feel about everything we've covered thus far in class. As we turn into the second half of the course, I want everyone starting to think about what their magic spell is going to be about. This handout is a self-check to generate ideas about what kind of magic you want to feature in our spell book and teach to other people.
The rest of the day was focused on finishing our draft poems. I also passed out the story "How to Tell a True War Story" by Tim O'Brien. Read this story by next Friday. We'll "workshop" this story as part of our practice for workshopping one another's work. I'll pass out a handout so you can come prepared for workshop next Friday.
Homework for Monday, October 15th
Work on revisions of your Telling a Story assignment, read "How to Tell a True War Story," and finish unfinished work.
