Goal for the day: To think about the connection between word choice and tone
We started talking about how revision at the close level often zeroes in on adjectives and adverbs and seeks to replace them with stronger and more precise nouns and verbs.
As a class we started filling out the following table to play with nouns and verbs as a way to convey a specific tone:
Tone Walked Looked At Ate
Angry Stormed Glared Scarfed
Sad Sulked Stared Somberly Picked or Pecked
Happy Sauntered Gleamed Inhaled
Worried Paced Flitted Nibbled
The rest of the class was spend working on different assignments.
Assignment for Friday, October 3rd
Finish your Writing Reflections
