Goal for the day: To appreciate the power of syntax
We spent most of the class on the Sentence Syntax Throwdown challenge. Students copied one of their best sentences into a Google Doc. Students ended up with a sentence from someone else to edit.
I then passed out a list of different sentence styles. Students used one of the styles to revise the sentence they got and posted their answer into the Google Doc. We then voted as a class on what sentence was most compelling. The author of the original sentence and the edit both got high quality popsickles. Everyone else got cookies.
I am still working on feedback on the drafts of the Telling Stories assignment and will send this out on Saturday to the people I have stories from.
Assignments for Monday, October 6th
