Learning target: We can identify a dramatic question within a story
Today we’re going to start with some more digital stories. I’m sharing these so you understand all the different types of stories that are out there. I’m hoping these stories give you some ideas for your own story. I also want you to keep using the checklist and point out things that you like and things that you wonder about or might have done differently.
On Wednesday, you’re going to tell me what to put in your rubric for grading your digital story. That’s why the checklist is important.
As we discuss these stories, I’ll introduce the concept of the dramatic question, an essential component of any story. Oftentimes the dramatic question is subtle, especially in these digital stories that are short. But they are there, if you know what to look for.
After the digital stories, you tell each other the story you think you want to use for your digital story. You’re not writing anything down. You are just telling the story to a partner. They’ll give you some immediate feedback using “advance-color-expand.” They will help you identify the potential dramatic questions in your story.
Any extra time and you can get started writing your story down. This is your homework.
Homework due Wednesday, September 2nd
