Goal for the day: To gain practice with concrete emotion
Yesterday we talked about and practiced incorporating the five senses into our writing. The senses help ground the images we use to create a dream for the reader. They make the images concrete.
We’re continuing our exploration of concrete writing today and its conjuring of emotion in our readers. We’ll hear the best of the concrete descriptions that you came up with overnight. And then apply this idea to emotions we’ve felt in our own life.
I also want to do a check-in on Friday’s assignment and introduce you to reading vandalism.
Assignment for Thursday, September 4th
Read selection from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities.
