Goal for the day: To understand how J.K. Rowling created such beloved characters
For those not exploring the Mines of Moria today up in Silverton, we're going to take the Hogwarts Express into the imagination of J.K. Rowling. We're going to study her character descriptions to find the key details that make her constellation of characters so effective. We'll be using this worksheet to investigate characters of your choosing.
Once we get some ideas up on the board, we'll look at clips from the films to see how these important traits found their way onto the silver screen.
We'll use what we find out to spur discussions next week about how to make our character descriptions pop.
Assignment for Friday, September 12th
Finish reading The Lesson by Toni Cade Bambara. Think about what the narrator wants.
