Today we're going to start with a short explanation of rhyme and other sound effects that you can use to improve your poems. There will be sound stations set up around the room when you arrive. You have to do at least one.
After you finish the first, you can settle into to work on other projects for the class (revising your Telling a Story assignment, revising/finishing your poems, etc.) or continue on and do the rest of the stations at your leisure.
Fifteen minutes before the end of the class I'll stop everyone and we'll review the stations and some of the things to know about poetry.
Homework for Thursday, October 16th
Finish the revisions on your "Telling a Story" assignment. Everyone who has turned in a story has feedback to work from. Make sure that you really revise. Revisions made up of minor changes will receive a lower grade than the original. Use the rubric to interrogate your own writing.
Read "How to Tell a True War Story" by Tim O'Brien. Due Friday. I'll be giving you a worksheet to fill in and turn in after you've read the story.
