Goals:
The day before the storm…
Today is project time with three different options for elective classes…
In terms of the project, exhibition has been set: March 17 at 5:00 p.m. at the Durango Rec Center. You will be exhibiting as part of a Local First Member Meeting. Attendees will vote on the project that does the most to create a more resilient local economy. I will have a poster at the door explaining different ideas and debates about resilience. Our exhibition will serve the purpose getting the community talking about this term and how it applies to our community.
There’s a lot of time between today and next Tuesday when we’ll next have class time to work on this project. Give yourself a goal for the weekend. And don’t get caught waiting for someone to get back to you before you start to put your ideas together. Contact anybody you need to interview TODAY. Have a backup in case they’re out of town. If they don’t respond to your email today, give them a call.
We’re going to do critique of your drafts a week from today. Final project is due Monday, March 9th!
Elective classes today include a session on Marketing and Promotion before break. We’ll reverse engineer the marketing efforts of companies that have worked their way into your consciousness. I’ll pass out resources you can use to put the marketing section of your proposal together.
After break, I’ll go into more depth with artisan businesses and then we’ll apply this understanding to our food system. You can drop in for any of this.
Handouts and videos for these sessions are posted under Student Resources on my DP
