Goal for the day: For you to find one concrete thing to improve what you’ve written
We’re going to get right to it today to make the most of your time. Your starter will be to fill out the self-assessment portion of the peer critique worksheet.
Then, I’ll divide you into groups of three for some peer critique. You’ll pass around the 1-2 page section you most want feedback and the other people in your group will provide feedback on the second half of the form.
The person being critiqued will then share their self-assessment. The others in the group will use their critique forms to respond to the self-assessment, either confirming or contradicting or giving the writer a different perspective. Focus on the strengths of the piece first.
Once you’re done, you’ll turn all the forms into me. I’ll make copies and hand them back during the second half of class.
The timing should run like this:
· Self-Assessment – 5-10 minutes
· Read submission # 1 and fill out critique sheet – 10 minutes
· Read submission # 2 and fill out critique sheet – 10 minutes
· Discussion of each person’s submission – 15 minutes
The rest of today will be project work-time.
