Learning target:
The first half of the day will be peer review of our term papers. Much of the value in peer review is what you take away for revising your own paper. For this reason, I'm want you to divide up according to what form of essay you're writing. We'll have arguing a position pairs, explaining a concept, and proposing a solution. There might be a group of three depending on who's in class. Here are the peer review sheets you'll use to structure your critique.
BEFORE you start reading each other's papers you need to write questions for your reviewer in each section of the sheet. This is to help you focus together on the features I'll be using to evaluate your particular essay.
After break, I'll give you an update on what I've found out about our Farmington option for the public event. We'll go over this document to lay out where we are and where we want to go. We need to decide today whether to do December 1st in Farmington or December 3rd in Durango. We'll discuss the pros and cons and make a decision. I'd like to have us figure this out by 10:00 a.m. so you have the last half hour to continue working on your paper.
Homework due Tuesday, November 3rd
Keep working on your term paper
- We can recognize ways to strengthen our own and other's term papers
- We can choose a venue for our public event using strategy
