Goal for the day: To consider how money in politics influences our freedom to petition
In the spirit of our discussions of freedom of religion and press, we’re starting out today with a short video clip about the debate about how Islam is represented in the media.
I will then go over the schedule for next week, as we’ll be moving into project time. Yes, we are finally there….
Then before we split up and start our seminar on Citizen’s United and Freedom to Petition, I’ll explain the new way that I’m going to tracking seminar participation.
Seminar & Issue Groups
While one group seminars, the other group will be working in their issue groups on their presentation. Take advantage of this time so that the time so you don’t have to work outside of class on this presentation. Consider how your topic and the strategy you’ve chosen relates to the first amendment protections. Refer to your workplan assignments.
For seminar, I’ll pass out a list of questions that you can use to direct discussions and keep the seminar moving in a productive direction.
Each group will have 45 minutes to seminar.
At the end of class, we’ll take ten minutes for you to blog about the freedom to petition.
