Hey folks…today is work time. Your goal should be to compile a bibliography that you can share with your advisor by the end of class.
I’ll be floating and checking in…Some of this individual checking in will be on True Wealth since I want to make sure you have resources you need before heading into the weekend. I'll also ask you to fill in this Google Doc to help me prepare for the elective lessons over the next couple of weeks.
You should all have meetings set-up with your advisors at this point. You will need to take the SPAM-1 form to the meeting (and your bibliography). The focus of this initial meeting should be making sure your question is focused enough to do productive research and creating a timeline for yourself so you can keep moving forward your searching and reading.
Next Two Weeks – Read and annotate enough articles so that you really know what you’re trying to figure out. Over the next two weeks you should sketch out the broad outlines of your topic and the different points of view that are out there on your question.
Two Weeks before Spring Break – Now that you know the broad outlines of your topic and have a specific question and sources you can really dig in. Search and read for more depth. If you find a good article, look at the bibliography and dig out titles that look promising. Ideally, you have all your articles finished and annotated before Spring Break so you are ready to start outlining and writing once you get back.
We're going to talk about how to do detailed reading of academic texts next week to help you get the most out of this research period as possible.
Homework due on Monday, February 23rd
Have read enough about your industry or issue for True Wealth that you have specific things you need to figure out next week. Shoot for having a draft of your proposal done a week from Monday
